Annotation

Mental map always has both large and small topoi (countries, towns, buildings; mountains, deserts, rivers, etc.) and people (scientists, artists, political figures). Ernest Hemingway was the cultural symbol of the Thaw for the young generation of the 1950-605. In the post-thaw period, the reception of Max Frisch and Friedrich Duerenmatt was of special significance in the Soviet Union. They became the major segments of the Soviet space of perception as well as signs of Switzerland. Object: Switzerland and the post-thaw awareness. Aim: Switzerland on the mental map of Russian intelligentsia in the 1960-70s. Method: mental-comparative analysis.
