Blundell's 'Etudes sur la prononciation Russe" and "Lärobok iruska spräkei" were
published when the number of
of investigations about Russian audible speech
speech had
intensively grown, but the standards of educated pronunciation in society had not been
conclusively established yet. Therefore writing down of colloquial, lower pronunciation
is very important for us as it allows to compare it with contemporary non-code Russian
pronunciation.
In opinion of some phoneticians, Lundell's books are one of a few reliable sources of
knowledge about Moscow audible speech of the epoch of a hundred years ago.
