Annotation

The article analyses linguistic data collected from the reader forum of the online version of the Polish-language Lithuanian daily newspaper ‘Kurier Wileński’ in the period of 2008-2009. The forum presents a frequent usage of Polish and Lithuanian parentheses such as separate lexical items, free and idiomatic collocations, and familiar expressions. The article aims at demonstrating that in multilingual and polysemantic environment lexical parentheses fulfil certain communicative function (nominative, referential, pragmatic) and appear to be a reflection of socio-cultural interference.
