Annotation

The present article discusses the problem of transformation of the perception of Shakespeare’s image of Hamlet in Russian literature. The focus is on the problem of interpreting the image of Hamlet in Chekhov’s prose fiction and drama. The theme of Hamlet is present in Chekhov’s works as a constant motif from his early humorous novellas and to his plays of the 1890s.
