Annotation

This article focuses on problems of reflection of “The Windsor Forest” by Alexander Pope in the “Letters of a Russian Traveler” by N.M. Karamzin. The author analyzes the translation of a fragment of the Pope’s poem dedicated to the transformation of a nymph Lodony. Motive metamorphosis considered in the context of the artistic whole of the Pope’s poem and the book by Karamzin. The conclusions about how the meaning of the motive in the transition to a different artistic context. Metamorphosis Lodony described by Pope, is considered in the general system of philosophy based on the Karamzin’s book on reflections on life and death. Draws a parallel with the motive of metamorphosis Pope and Herder, also influenced by Karamzin in the period of work on the “Letters of a Russian Traveler”
