Annotation
The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of an allegory and a symbol. Materials are
both products of Russian literature - L. N. Tolstoy, A. S. Pushkin, I. A. Krylov, I. A. Goncharov,
G. R. Derzhavin, etc. , and products belonging to pen of the European authors - J. Galsworthy,
Aesop, etc. The body of the article consists of the Introduction in which statement ofthe problem
is given, three sections (1. An allegory and a symbol: the nature of figurativeness. 2. Allegories
and symbols of representatives of fauna. Animal level in structure of an image. 3. Vegetative
allegories and symbols), and the Conclusion. The author of the article considers an allegorical
background of characters, the allegorical plan of the structure of an image of a human and of the
structure of an image of the world, and also independent allegories of a dog, of a grape, of an oak
which allow the artists to find an archetypical and mythological-poetical reality providing condi-
tions of occurrence of the internal (art) form of a word.
