Annotation

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the Russian theater entered the era of artistic experiments. Avant-garde stage solutions were the result of theoretical developments, including those of the futurists. Russian futurists ingeniously used the idea of changing the course of time in their works. Freedom from the framework of the classical Newtonian worldview made it possible to introduce elements of a “mobile” chronotope into the plot of the drama. The object of our study was futuristic works: the performance “Tsar Maksimyan and Evo’s Recalcitrant Son Adolf” (directed by Bonch-Tomashevsky, 1911); the play “Mirskonza” by Velimir Khlebnikov (1912); opera “Victory over the Sun” by Alexei Kruchenykh (1913); the play “Mistake of Death” by Velimir Khlebnikov (1915); drama “Lidantyu faram” by Ilya Zdanevich (1923). The paper proves that the composition and plot of the text are based on traditional literary and folklore structures. Novelty and “futurism” are formed due to linguistic innovations (for example, the neologism of “Mirskonza”; the zaum language of Ilyazd’s drama), as well as the non-trivial construction of the storyline, where the heroes of dramas themselves travel through time or they have special guide characters.
