Annotation

The author of this article analyses images and ideas of a short novel ‘Narod bessmerten’ (‘The People are Immortal’, 1942) bу V. Grossman. It consists of three chapters which form а ‘microtrilogy‘ about the first year of the Great Patriotic War. The publicistic basis developed in the short novel realizes іn the open author’s word. The image of the people’s hem (Semen Ignatiev), biblical motifs, symbolic scenery help to express Grossman’s main idea: eternal immortality of the people even in times of the Catastrophe.
