Annotation

The article deals with the works of V.M. Zhirmunsky in the field of comparative-historical literary criticism. The scientist saw theoretical and methodological basis for the research in fact of the artistic influence of one author to another (others). As a foreshortening for the study he assumed teleology and its style embodied in theme, plot structure, organization of composition, and stylistics of a literary work.
