Annotation

The article draws parallels between Goethe’s “Faust” and Lermontov’s novel “A Hero of Our Time”: at the level of reminiscences and allusions, as well as at the level of architectonics and genre-making. “Faust” is proposed to be consi- dered as a “model of contemplation of the universe” (F. Schelling), which Lermon- tov creatively followed in his famous book about the modern man.
