Annotation

The article traces the connection between Danish writer K. Michaelis and Russian literature. Particular attention is given to the early period of the writer’s creativity which reflected the myth about the Russian national character, the Russian soul as it is formed in the West European mind, and there also appeared representations of plot scheme of classical works of Russian literature – “Eugene Onegin” by A. S. Pushkin, “A Gentle Creature” and “The Idiot” by F. M. Dostoyevsky. Moreover, it is stated that Michaelis did not only “humbly” followed the Russian idols, but also argued with them.
